Taylor Swift Takes Early Lead at Billboard Music Awards With Six Wins

There may be a blue carpet out front, but the Billboard Music Awards already has “Red” all over it. Taylor Swift has jumped out with six awards, including Top Female Artist and Top Billboard 200 Artist, in a pre-telecast announcement for the event, airing live Sunday night from Las Vegas on ABC.

Swift also took home Top Digital Songs Artist, Top Country Artist, Top Country Song, for “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together,” and Top Country Album, for “Red.” Swift is a finalist in eleven categories on the night. Fun. and Maroon 5 are also up for eleven.

Thanks to @taylornation13 for tweeting this article about critics in New York loving the Newark stops of the RED Tour!

Taylor Swift wrapped a run of sold-out New York-area shows Friday night with her third show of the week at The Prudential Center in Newark. Over the course of the week’s shows she played to capacity crowds and earned rave reviews, impressing some of the nation’s toughest critics.

Rolling Stone — “Seeing Taylor Swift live in 2013 is seeing a maestro at the top of her or anyone’s game. No other pop auteur can touch her right now for emotional excess or musical reach. Red [is] the slickest, smartest and just plain best mega-pop statement of our time. Seeing Taylor onstage now is seeing….total commitment, total fan fervor, total connection between audience and performer. A true arena-rock goddess at an amazing peak.”

The New York Times — “A king-size spectacle, [whose] juxtapositions have power, one theatrical scene after the next. Taylor Swift off-script is very much like Taylor Swift on-script: not just the brains of the operation, but the brawn, too, the unflappable force that ensures stuck landings. Ms. Swift’s voice is stronger than it’s ever been, and also sturdier….she sang vividly from behind a piano, show[ing] credible dark emotion.”

Taylor Swift Throws Everything Into Splashy Scottrade Center Show

Taylor Swift left 14,000 fans seeing red Monday night at Scottrade Center during the first of her two sold-out concerts (the second concert is tonight).

But fortunately it wasn’t that kind of red.

Superstar Swift brought her very new “Red” tour to town, only the third stop on the singer’s trek. And it was everything Swift’s mostly glow-stick-waving young girl fans and their moms expected from a Taylor Swift extravaganza.

From ballerinas emerging from oversized music boxes to Swift in various contraptions that allowed her to hover over the audience, this was a crowd-pleasing affair.
